Here’s how much the Stranger Things houses are really worth

Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 is set to hit Netflix on July 1st, but how much are the homes in Hawkins, Indiana really worth?

Whilst the supernatural activity, unexplained disappearances and hauntings may reduce the desirability of the area, SDL Property Auctions have revealed how much the Stranger Things kids’ houses would be worth in the UK today.

Creel House

The main location of volume one, the 6 bedroom Creel house provides all the unique charm of a period home – with the hauntings, traumatic past and decayed appearance to boot.

The real house used for filming was built in 1882 in Rome, Georgia and sold for $350,000 in March 2019. We’d estimate this property would sell for around £300,000, potentially reaching upwards of £350,000 at auction, similar to Wordsley Manor in the West Midlands, which sold for £318,000 back in 2018.

Byers’ Original House

The Byers’ original house is understandably the most affordable on this list, with the non-standard construction and issues with asbestos (according to production designer Chris Trujillo) the house value would decrease. If it were on the market in the UK in this condition, SDL Property Auctions would expect it to make in the region of  £100,000 – a similar property can be found in our June auction, with 212 Stenson Road in Derby which was originally constructed with train carriages.

At least with the fairy lights taken down, you would make significant energy savings – leaving money spare to fix the property’s other problems!

Byers’ New House

Valuing this home on the basis of its initial state, and not after the events of season 4 volume 1, Eleven, Will, Joyce and Jonathan’s new home could be expected to fetch £200,000, based on comparables to other 4 bedroom homes on the market in an area like the North East of England.

The Byers’ new house is actually real, and located in Albuquerque, New Mexico (not Lenora Hills) – you can book a stay there on AirBnb.

When we think of Albuquerque, we all think of the iconic opening line of Breaking Bad; “My name is Walter Hartwell White. I live at 308 Negra Arroyo Lane, Albuquerque, New Mexico”, well you TV fans could also bag Walter White’s house for between £400-500K+ depending on its location in the UK – this valuation is based on the pool adding additional value, not the expectation of finding cash in the crawl space.

Wheeler House

The show’s central safe house is a lovely home in seemingly great condition, so SDL Property Auctions think it would likely do well if sold in the UK. The house is so spacious you may not even notice an extra child living in your basement! They’d expect it to make at least £375,000 in today’s market if it was located in the north of England, if not more elsewhere.

Hopper’s Cabin

Hopper himself may not like this, but it’d likely be more beneficial to sell Hopper’s cabin for the land it sits on as a development opportunity, rather than the building itself as it would be tricky to get any kind of mortgage on it!

This would be an even more logical plan following the mind flayer attack at the end of season 3, however, SDL Property Auctions have sold cabin-esque development sites in the past, such as Y Coed in Wales back in 2019 which was too dangerous for viewers to enter. This made £76,000 at auction then, which when adjusted for 2022 is around £82,000 – so it’s fair to say Hopper’s cabin (in its previous state) would be within this region.
