Stoke former children’s home to go up for auction

The former Hollybank House children’s home in Stoke on Trent is to go up for sale by auction this month with a £150,000-£200,000 guide price.

The former council-run facility, which is made up of a two-storey, detached, late-Georgian house and an extension added in the 1980s, will feature along with some 240 other buildings and plots of land in the next SDL Property Auctions online live streamed sale on 26th September.

Last used as a children’s home in 2007, the property, on Hollybank Crescent, still retains many original Georgian features, including floor tiles and fireplaces, and is situated on a 0.6-acre site with a private, gated driveway. It includes 10 bedrooms, a commercial kitchen and dining areas.

Auctioneers believe the substantial property could be suitable for conversion into apartments or a house of multiple occupancy (HMO), subject to a buyer gaining the relevant planning consent.

Andrew Parker, auctioneer and partner at SDL Property Auctions, said: “This is a historic and spacious property that has been unused for over a decade and it would be great to see it gain a new lease of life under imaginative new ownership.

He added: “It’s in a great location, just a mile from Stoke city centre and a stone’s throw from junction 15 of the M6 motorway.”
