Former Tamworth police station to be auctioned with £1.8m guide price

Tamworth’s former police station is to go up for auction later this month, with planning consent for 54 residential units. Located on Spinning Lane in the town centre, the building will appear in the next live-streamed auction held by SDL Property Auctions, part of Eddisons, on 29 May, with a guide price of £1.8m.
Built in 1975 to replace the town’s former Victorian station, the five-storey, brutalist-style property was a police HQ until 2019. It received planning consent last year for conversion into 54 apartments in a major residential development for Tamworth that is set to include a gym, reception foyer and parking for residents.
Andrew Parker, partner and auctioneer at SDL Property Auctions, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to develop what will undoubtedly be an incredibly popular and much-needed residential scheme in the heart of Tamworth.
“The town itself is well known for its great blend of shops and other facilities, balanced by its surrounding countryside, medieval castle and not forgetting its famous Snowdome indoor ski centre.
“A recent £21m Government award to help transform the town centre, along with other local regeneration projects that are driving positive change, confirms Tamworth’s status as an excellent location for residential property development.”
