Can’t buy me love, but you can buy this Beatles-themed former pub

SDL Property Auctions, the UK’s leading national property auctioneer, is inviting fans to Twist and Shout-up to own a piece of Fab Four history with the sale of a Beatles-themed pub in Liverpool.

For sale in an online Timed Auction next month is the former Empress Pub on High Park Street in Toxteth. With a guide price set at £275,000+ (plus fees), this iconic establishment, featured on the sleeve of Ringo Starr’s first solo album, Sentimental Journey, is being sold by SDL Property Auctions on behalf of LPA Receivers Linda McPartland and Roger Gifford of McPartland & Gifford Ltd.

Well known in the local area thanks to its striking external murals and vibrant internal artwork and themed rooms, the property comprises the original Empress pub on the ground floor and basement with separate access to a seven-room HMO/Airbnb with communal kitchen, and for those who want to Come Together, there’s a yard to the rear.

Andrew Parker, the auctioneer and managing director at SDL Property Auctions, said, “We’re offering a unique opportunity to secure a piece of Beatles history, not to mention an ongoing business investment, subject to a scheme of refurbishment work for the former pub. The pub is not currently trading; however, it still regularly attracts tourists visiting the property to take photos and soak up the ambiance that the impressive building displays.

“The upper floors can be fully income producing and we anticipate the estimated gross rental income, if let as an HMO and pub, could amount to £40,000-£45,000pa. There is scope to significantly increase the rental income if it were to be continued to be let as an Airbnb or holiday rental.”

Bidding in the auction is scheduled to open at 12noon on Wednesday 14th February. Interested parties can download the property’s legal pack from the online listing and place a bid at any time up to the auction closing at 2pm on Thursday 15th February.

A second property also being sold by online Timed Auction next month, and paying homage to Liverpool’s famous residents, is 4 Morecambe Street in Liverpool. This two bedroomed terraced house, and former Airbnb, boasts impressive internal artwork of Steven Gerrard, Luis Díaz the Liverpool FC team, and is located less than a mile from Anfield. Bidding for this property opens for 26 hours at 12noon on Tuesday 13th February.

Prospective bidders for both properties can register to bid online and download the legal packs on the SDL Property Auctions website. Bidding is open 24/7 during the bidding window with the successful bidder immediately exchanging contracts when the auction ends, securing the sale with no Long and Winding Road as completion takes place only 30 days later.
