‘Two for one’ barn conversion is a commuter’s dream

A barn conversion on the outskirts of Nottingham offers two for the price of one, with the option for its new owner to keep it as separate dwellings or convert into a larger family home.

Aslockton Grange Barn, Grantham Road, Aslockton, which is being sold by conditional online auction by SDL Auctions in partnership with Mount & Minster Estate Agents, is currently laid out as two self-contained one bedroomed cottages. It has a *guide price of £295,000 and the auction ends at noon on Wednesday 20 November.

Jason Lee, SDL Auctions’ national sales director, is excited by the property’s flexibility: “You get two of everything with this property; two kitchens, two bathrooms, two lounges and two bedrooms. Both cottages are beautiful properties in their own right and would make a lovely home for a couple, perhaps with an elderly relative living independently but close by in the single-storey cottage.

“However, there is also the option to convert the property back into a single family home with two or three bedrooms, which would make it ideal for a family looking for a cottage packed with character and with great commuter links.”

The single-storey cottage has a kitchen, bathroom, reception room and bedroom. The adjoining two-storey cottage has an entrance hallway, breakfast kitchen, cloakroom and living room on the ground floor, with a bedroom, en suite bathroom and study area upstairs.

Character features include vaulted ceilings with exposed trusses, flagstone flooring, a Rangemaster stove, brick fireplaces and latch doors.

The cottages are surrounded by beautiful mature gardens with lawns, a paved terrace for outdoor dining, a gravel driveway and large double garage.

Aslockton is a well-placed village with good amenities including a shop and post office, pub, village hall, primary school and church. It has excellent sports and leisure facilities, with, cricket and football pitches and an all-weather tennis court. Further amenities can be found in nearby Bingham, which is just a short drive away.

Having its own railway station and being situated on the A52, Aslockton has excellent transport links, with easy access to Nottingham, Grantham via road, rail or bus. Aslockton railway station runs trains to Grantham, from where there is a fast train service to London Kings Cross. By road, Nottingham city centre is a half-hour drive away, while Grantham is about 20 minutes away.

Jason added: “The transport links mean this cottage offers the best of both worlds; a lovely village location, without being cut off from work, shopping and leisure facilities. It’s a great cottage which would make a fantastic family home or investment property.”

The auction of Aslockton Grange Barn ends at noon on Wednesday 20 November. For more information, or to book a viewing, please contact Mount & Minster on 01522 716204 or email info@mountandminster.co.uk.
