Searching for bidder to say “I do” for former Ilkeston Registry Office
1st April 2015 – Graham Penny Auctions, the most successful auction house in Derby, is set to sell a landmark Ilkeston building under the hammer at its auction later this month – the former Ilkeston Registry Office.
The former Ilkeston Registry Office on Lord Haddon Road is a substantial detached residence on the market with Graham Penny Auctions at a *guide price of £70,000 to £80,000. Situated close to Ilkeston town centre, the property is an impressive two storied building within a walled garden and offers excellent potential for residential accommodation with a wealth of features and an abundance of charm and character.
Graham Penny, auctioneer at Graham Penny Auctions, commented: “This is an impressive building which will no doubt hold memories for many local residents who may have got married or registered a birth at the Register Office.
“The property has been granted planning permission for conversion from a commercial building into residential use and its substantial size and gardens will surely make for a wonderful home.”
The property comprises an entrance porch with Minton tiled flooring leading to the reception hall. To the ground floor are three former ceremony rooms, featuring ornate and decorative coving, a store room and kitchen. On the first floor there is a galleried landing leading onto four further rooms and a WC.
Outside, the property occupies a substantial plot and sits behind a walled fore garden with wrought iron hand gate. To the rear of the property there is a charming walled garden which is mainly laid to lawn with a range of mature trees and shrubs with timber summer house, outside WC and tool store.
Graham Penny Auctions dominates the region’s property auction market in terms of lots offered, lots sold and revenue raised. In 2014 Graham Penny Auctions sold more lots in Derby than any of its city competitors, secured total sales of more than £34.7m and achieved an overall success rate of 82 per cent.
Graham added: “We have already had significant interest, with dozens of people ringing to view the property and hundreds more visiting our website to view the details. The building clearly holds a lot of memories for the local residents in Ilkeston and it would be nice to think that the new owners will create many more memories in the years to come.”
The former Ilkeston Registry Office, 87 Lord Haddon Road, Ilkeston, DE7 8AX has been instructed to Graham Penny Auctions by Derbyshire County Council following its closure recently when its registrar service moved to the Town Hall.
It will be going under the hammer at the iPro Stadium on Thursday 16th April. The legal pack is available online for any potential buyers to view and any viewings or requests for proxy, telephone or internet bids should be made with Graham Penny Auctions on 01332 242 880.
