Pretty cottage in the National Forest is just a few clicks away
You could be just a few clicks away from owning countryside cottage in a pretty village in the National Forest if you’re in the winning bidder in an online property auction.
SDL Auctions is selling Farriers Cottage, 2 Woodville Road, Hartshorne in partnership with Cadley Cauldwell Estate Agents via conditional online auction with a guide price of £143,000 and ending at noon on Tuesday 1 October.
And the three-bedroomed cottage has bags of appeal, according to Jason Lee, national sales director at SDL Auctions.
He said: “The cottage is everything you’d want from a rural retreat; it has wooden flooring, beamed ceilings, a log burner and there’s even a neat cottage garden with vegetable plots.”
Painted cream and sitting on a corner plot opposite one of the village’s three pubs, the terraced cottage is packed with character and original features. It has double glazing throughout and LPG central heating.
The property is entered via a hallway, leading into the spacious lounge which has cherry wood flooring, a bay window and a feature brick fireplace with log burner as its focal point. There is a storage cupboard under the stairs.
An opening leads to the dining room, which also has cherry wood flooring, and to the long galley kitchen which has solid wood work surfaces, a Rangemaster 100 oven and extractor fan. A barn door leads to the courtyard which has a decorative built up fish pond and an outdoor seating area.
Upstairs the property has three bedrooms – two of which are doubles – and a spacious bathroom with a white suite, including a free-standing bath and a shower cubicle.
Outside the property, the courtyard has shared access for the neighbouring property, and there is shared access to an additional off-set garden which has a lawn, vegetable patch, various shrubs and plants, as well as a shed, greenhouse and a log store.
Jason added: “We highly recommend viewing this property to appreciate just how lovely it is. The property, the décor, the location – all are ideal for a couple or family looking to enjoy a countryside lifestyle.”
Hartshorne is in the heart of the National Forest which spans 200 square miles of forest habitat and includes many visitor attractions such as Conkers, Rosliston Forestry Centre, Calke Abbey, Ashby de la Zouch Castle.
The village itself has a convenience store, primary school, church, hairdressing salon and even a veterinary surgery. There is a post office in neighbouring Woodville and a selection of supermarkets at nearby Swadlincote.
Transport links are good, too, with buses to Derby, Burton, Swadlincote and Melbourne, easy access to main roads and the wider motorway network, and two international airports within commuting distance.
