Period cottages to star in Nottingham auction

A rare chance to buy a pair of period, stone-built cottages is coming up at the next SDL Auctions Graham Penny auction in Nottingham on Friday 20 October.

The semi-detached cottages at 30-30A Church Street are being offered as one lot, are within easy reach of the centre of Market Warsop and have a *guide price of £90,000+.

They boast a total of nine bedrooms – six in number 30 and another three in 30A – and there is a small rear garden that could be converted into parking, subject to planning permission.

Vejay Pal, senior valuer at SDL Auctions Graham Penny, said: “This is a unique opportunity to purchase a pair of historical cottages, and we are expecting some strong competition for them.

“These two properties were originally three terraced cottages and could therefore be reconverted, subject to planning permission, which makes them an even more attractive lot.”

Meanwhile, a mid-terraced house that’s been divided into two apartments at 20 Maples Street in Forest Fields is also appearing at the auction, with a guide price of £95,000+.

The apartments – one with two bedrooms and one with a single bedroom – are currently generating £10,296 of rent per annum.

Mr Pal said: “With a current return of nearly 11 per cent, based on the guide price, this is an excellent investment opportunity and should raise the interest of potential purchasers.”

Other interesting properties for sale in the Nottingham auction include:

  • An end-of-terrace, two bedroomed house at 1 Prospect Street in Mansfield, with a guide price of £42,000+.
  • A semi-detached, three bedroomed house at 11 Chaworth Street in Blidworth, with a guide price of £54,000+.
  • A detached, four bedroomed house at 8 Hawkshead Close in West Bridgford, with a guide price of £260,000+.

The auction takes place at Nottingham Racecourse from 11.30am on Friday 20 October. There are 35 lots and the full auction catalogue can be found here, and at
