Its last auction of the year, on Friday 5th December at Nottingham Racecourse, saw Graham Penny Auctions sell its 200th property of the year – more than any other auction house in Nottingham and 25 per cent ahead of its nearest competitor.

Vejay Pal, senior valuer at Graham Penny Auctions Nottingham, commented: “We had hundreds of buyers register for our auction this month and pack into our auction room at Nottingham Racecourse. No doubt our 40-lot catalogue caught the eye of the buyers and competitive bidding in the auction room – and remotely by telephone, proxy and internet – helped drive up sale prices so give our vendor clients some very nice Christmas presents.”

Amongst the properties selling well in the December auction were:

  • Awsworth Church 110c Patrick Road in West Bridgford – a three bedroomed detached gas centrally heated bungalow requiring modernisation, upgrading and improvement. Undoubtedly the most popular lot of the auction, this property saw some excited bidding in the auction room and on the telephones eventually selling at £199,000 – nearly twice its *guide price.
  • 24 Curlew Wharf in Castle Marina – a well-presented one bedroomed ground floor flat which sold for £77,000.
  • Awsworth Methodist Church in Awsworth – a substantial two storey church suited to possible redevelopment (subject to planning permission) sold for £145,500.
  • 75 Scotland Road in Basford – a traditional two bedroomed detached property having two separate reception rooms sold for £107,000.

Graham Penny Auctions dominates the region’s property auction market in terms of lots offered, lots sold and revenue raised and continues to stay well ahead of its rivals across the East Midlands. To date Graham Penny Auctions Nottingham has raised over £59.1m in sales for its clients and achieved an 83 per cent success rate.

Vejay added: “2014 has been a hugely successful year for us in Nottingham and across the wider Midlands region. I’m already carrying out valuations and taking entries for our first auction of 2015 and with 21 auctions across the Midlands throughout the year I’m confident we’ll continue to see smiles on the faces of our vendor clients.”
