Go for Gold in the West Midlands before Birmingham 2022
The time is now to invest in Birmingham and the West Midlands, as the area looks set to welcome the Commonwealth Games in 2022. With areas across the whole region being used for the various events, there’s bound to the perfect property for you – you’ll even find our auction event venue, Villa Park, being used for the Rugby Sevens!
Athletics competitions are always one of the most popular events of the Commonwealth Games, which will be taking part at Alexander Park located in Perry Barr. Perry Barr is a popular suburban area in the north of Birmingham with a population of just over 20,000 people. With 47 schools also in the area, it’s a popular spot for families to move to who can benefit from great transportation links to the city centre.
We’ve sold a number of properties in the area over the years, including great residential investment opportunities as well as commercial – even an old police station! Investing in the Perry Barr area now could prove to be lucrative in years to come, especially in 2022 when the Commonwealth Games are in town. You could consider offering the property as an Airbnb home, which would prove to be popular during the games!
If you prefer a slower pace of life, Cannock may be right up your street. It is the most populous area of the three towns in the Cannock Chase district, and also happens to be where the Mountain Biking events will be taking place in 2022. Being well served by the M6, A34 and A5 roads, it is also a great place to invest in property for those commuting to the surrounding areas.
There have been a number of properties from Cannock sold in our auctions, including this two bedroomed terraced property. Offered at a guide in excess of £45,000, the property sold at auction for £80,000. After a scheme of modernisation and improvements both internally and externally, the property then sold on the open market seven months later for £125,000. With the Commonwealth Games coming to Cannock in 2022, now is a great time to invest in the area, which is sure to see a great deal of growth over the next few years. Alternatively, if you’re looking to sell your property in the Cannock area, make sure to request a free auction appraisal today.
Just down the road from Birmingham, the city of Coventry will be used for the Netball events of the 2022 Games. After the England Netball team’s successes in the Gold Coast games, the focus will be on them to see if they can replicate their successes in front of a home crowd, especially after their double win at the recent BBC Sport’s Personality of the Year Awards. The city also benefits from being home to Coventry University in the city centre and the University of Warwick on the southern outskirts, making it a great area to invest in for the ever-popular student let.
In our Birmingham auctions, we have sold a number of properties in the Coventry area. This three bedroomed semi-detached house was offered at a guide of in excess of £115,000 and sold at auction for £136,000. The property, which was subject to fire damage, then underwent a series of modernisation and was later brought to the open market and sold for £197,500. Coventry is always a popular investment location, but with the Commonwealth games coming very soon, now could be the time to buy!
