Former Langton Colliery site to go under the hammer
10th October 2014 – The former Langton Colliery site at Langton in Kirkby in Ashfield is set to go under the hammer with Graham Penny Auctions this month for potentially as little as £150,000+.
The 60 acres plot of land on the south side of Kirkby Lane in Langton has the benefit of existing planning consent and is being sold by auction on behalf of joint liquidators on Friday 17th October at Nottingham Racecourse.
Vejay Pal, senior valuer at Graham Penny Auctions Nottingham, commented: “Development land is selling particularly well in our auction room at the moment, particularly sites which have existing planning permission in place.
“The Langton site has had a lot of interest and its location close to Nottingham, Mansfield, Derby and Chesterfield should attract bidders from across the region to the auction room.”
Planning permission has been granted for (4/2007/0904) coal recovery and reclamation scheme including woodland, scrub, dry grassland and wetland with enhanced Rights of Way network and reinstatement of employment land (approved 24th December 2009) and (4/V/2011/0255) variation of conditions 8 and 9 of permission 4/2007/0904 to revise method of working the spoil heap (approved 19th September 2011). The land is also subject to a works licence in favour of Recycoal Limited (9th May 2014) allowing it to complete the required restoration works associated with the planning consents.
