Bungalow in one of Chester’s finest villages to be auctioned
A rare chance to buy and develop a detached bungalow in the beautiful village of Dodleston near Chester will attract plenty of buyers to an auction in the city next month.
The property, called Briarcroft on Church Road, is appearing at the next SDL Auctions Cheshire and North Wales’ auction at Chester Racecourse on Wednesday 13 September, with a guide price* of just £150,000.
The low price is due to unfortunate fire damage which means the two-bedroomed bungalow needs major renovation to make it habitable, however the property’s size and Dodleston’s popularity are likely to create strong interest.
Edward Feather, auctioneer at SDL Auctions Cheshire and North Wales, said: “This substantial detached bungalow is a unique opportunity as either a comprehensive renovation project, or as a site to re-design and develop as a dream home, subject to planning permission.
“Dodleston has a primary school, post office and popular village pub, and is arguably one of Chester’s finest villages, just a short drive from the city via the A55 expressway.”
Another bungalow appearing at the auction is in a quiet cul-de-sac at 11 Madeley Close in Broughton, near Chester.
This two-bedroomed dormer bungalow, located close to Broughton shopping park and with excellent road links to Chester, Liverpool and Manchester, has a guide price of £115,000+.
Mr Feather said: “This property is in good condition throughout and is situated on a large, fan- shaped plot offering plenty of potential for future extension, subject to planning permission.”
Also up for auction is a three-bedroomed terraced house at 58 Stratford Road in the popular Chester suburb of Blacon, with a guide price of £60,000+.
This property needs full refurbishment but would make an ideal purchase for a local investor to develop for rental or resale.
Other lots at the auction include approximately 0.24 acres of land near Creswell Farm Drive, in the popular residential location of Creswell, on the outskirts of Stafford. The land could be used for additional gardens or other facilities, and comes with a guide price of just £1.
Mr Feather added: “The wide range of properties and land already listed looks set to create a busy auction on 13 September.”
