Bennington home with beauty salon offers a range of possibilities

A six bedroomed home housing a former hair and beauty salon in a desirable Nottinghamshire village is to be sold via online auction, offering a range of possibilities for the new owner.

Offered for sale by SDL Auctions in partnership with Newton Fallowell Grantham, 28 Main Road, Long Bennington, Newark, is a Grade II Listed property with five reception rooms, two kitchens, office space, and a hair and beauty salon. The auction ends at noon on Wednesday 12 June and the starting price is £365,000.

The property needs significant improvements but offers a host of opportunities, according to Jason Lee, national sales manager of SDL Auctions.

He said: “This is a full-scale project but the right buyer who is willing to take it on will surely see the property’s potential, whether as a stunning family home or as a business opportunity. There is also the option to increase the space even further by extending into the cellar space and large attic, once the necessary planning permissions have been obtained”

The ground floor of the two-storey property currently comprises a grand reception hall with flagstone floor and exposed beams, two kitchens, five reception rooms – two of which have exposed beams – a lobby area, utility area, three store rooms, office space, inner hallway and a wet room.

Upstairs, stairs lead off in two directions from the landing to the six bedrooms, bathroom and additional cloakroom. Steps also rise from the landing to the attic space, which could be developed further, subject to planning permission.

Attached to the property, with its own separate entrance, is a hair and beauty salon, which comprises the salon plus a reception area and disabled toilet on the ground floor. Upstairs is the nail bar and massage room. The items within the salon are available by separate negotiation.

Jason added: “As you can see, this is a large house with heaps of character and the separate treatment rooms make it ideal for running a home business in one of the area’s most prestigious villages.”

Long Bennington is a popular village due to its good range of amenities and excellent transport links.

It has a primary school, medical centre, three pubs, a Co-op store, village shops, a fish and chip shop, café and a busy community, with a village hall, Anglican church, Methodist chapel and football and bowls teams.

The village is surrounded by open countryside, yet the A1 can be reached in five minutes by car, and Newark and Grantham are each within a 15-minute drive. Grantham Railway Station runs regular services to London, while nearby Bottesford Station runs trains to Nottingham.

Jason said: “Long Bennington’s excellent transport links are just one of the reasons it is such a popular location, with Grantham station just down the road and London just over an hour away by train. It’s an excellent location both to invest in property and to set up home.”
